RAMA ON THE MOUNTAIN

Paramahamsa Vishwananda has been painting devotional images since He was a child. As with everything He does, each stroke of His brush is filled with love and devotion.

Painted in Mauritius, Paramahamsa Vishwananda shows Lord Rama as He surveys the distance to Lanka where his wife, Sita, is being held hostage. Stopped by the ocean, He threatens Sagar, the ocean, by drawing His arrow saying, 'If you don't let me pass, I will shoot this arrow and dry you up.' In response, the lord of the ocean and his wives beg Rama for mercy.

To go deeper into this painting, realise that Sita represents the mind, and the Lord will do everything He can to get reach and to purify the mind. So, even if it means He must dry out the ocean of desire, He will do it.
