Description
The use of chandan has existed for thousands of years in the sacred tradition of Hinduism.
Taken from the earth of various holy sites, it is applied on the body as an act of devotion. Often visible on the forehead of devotees, chandan is an important element of the tilak that represents both one's spiritual philosophy and lineage.

Which colour of chandan should be used?
Based on guidelines given by Gurudev, in Bhakti Marga an initiated devotee’s tilak should be white chandan with red kumkum, no other colours or variations. For a deity’s tilak, other colours can be used, but use only white and red for yourself as an initiated devotee.
